Hi, I'm Keri.
Mom. Wife. Teacher. Photographer. Dreamer.
Throughout my life, I have been drawn to the arts. Art touches the soul, fuels imagination, inspires creativity, and bridges divides. During my adolescence, I funneled my need for artistic expression through drawing. As an adult, I have fed my creative personality through the art of teaching- high school social studies to be exact. However, in the Spring of 2023, I decided to embark on a new artistic adventure- nature photography.
Those who know me well can tell you of my deep love of nature. You can often find me in the forest marveling at God's natural wonders- the sweet serenade of songbirds, wildflowers that dance upon the forest floor, galloping deer, trickling streams, and curious furry creatures. Over the last few years, the forest has been my refuge, my church, my place of peace.
As the months passed, my passion for photography grew. Not only did I want to photograph nature, I wanted to photograph, well, everything.
Why? Because photography documents life.
Maybe it is the history teacher in me. I have always loved pouring over photos of the past. On a collective scale, photography has provided a window into the reality of our yesterdays. Whether that day was one in which Americans stormed the shores of Normandy, France, marched for equality in Selma, Alabama, or fought for voting rights in Seneca Falls, New York, pictures have captured our triumphs and tragedies as a nation.
On an individual scale, photography provides a tangible record of our precious moments- the smiles and laughter of our children, sweet whispers shared between a young couple, joyous anniversary celebrations, a newborn's first few days in their big new world, carefree vacations, and everything in between.
